Perhaps you did ballet when you were young and would like to take it up again? Maybe you do ballet at college and need to develop your technique? I teach a regular Wednesday morning adult class in Barnes, which is pitched at an elementary level for those who have had some previous experience and those who would like ballet to be a part of an active lifestyle. The atmosphere is friendly but sweat-inducing! Classes start at the barre where we warm up with a series of exercises before moving to the centre of the studio. Here we do some simple combinations which build up to a big jump at the end of the class. My aim is to help you to develop your technique, improve your posture, build a strong core and have some fun dancing. Classes last for an hour and a quarter and run for about 11 weeks during term-times. I prefer people to book for the whole term, the cost for which is £145. I charge £15 for drop-ins. As well as my group classes, I regularly teach private lessons for keen amateurs and those hoping to develop a professional career. I charge £40 per hour for private lessons, plus studio rental which varies from £12 to £30 depending on the venue. I am a classically trained dancer from The Royal Ballet School. A serious injury stopped me from pursuing a full-time career but I love teaching adults of all abilities and helping them to enjoy ballet. In addition to my own classes, which I keep purposefully small, I teach a general standard, open class at Pools on the park in Richmond for Brian Loftus when he is away. I cover a number of parts at the Royal Ballet each Christmas, in its production of The Nutcracker.
